In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Catfish was a regular performer at the weekly country music show, Paint Valley Jamboree in Bainbridge, Ohio. He also played in night clubs and bars throughout the Columbus Metro Area and Southeast Ohio, sharing the stage with many of the popular bands in the region at the time. In 2001, he moved to Lawrence, Kansas and was a regular performer at the Jazzhaus and Bottleneck night clubs. From 2003 to 2006, Catfish was a regular performer at community gatherings and open stages throughout the Southeast Ohio area. After that, he married the love of his life and shifted his focus to earning a degree. In 2011 he graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a B.A. in history and economics. Catfish’s influences span from the Delta Blues to Johnny Cash, to Merle Travis and Jerry Reed, to Townes Van Zandt. A big inspiration he draws from is his family’s history of playing music and singing. His grandpa traveled and performed in local theaters in the 20’s and 30’s. His aunt was a staff singer at the Frontier Ranch, and shared the stage with some of the biggest names in country music in the 1960’s and 70’s. His cousin is a leading influencer and accomplished musician in the Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed communities.
